PlayoutONE is another automation system becoming increasingly popular in America which also integrates well with either program. This is usually just because both integrate well with two of the most widely used automation systems: RCS NexGen/Zetta and WideOrbit. use either RCS G-Selector or Music Master these days. I think that you'll find that the majority of terrestrial radio stations in the U.S. But having worked with practically all of the scheduling software available at one time or another (either regularly or on a trial basis as I've explored the options), there is always room for improvement. There is a lot of competition in this space, perhaps surprisingly, for such a cottage industry. I’ve since managed to develop a first version of this that allows the user to define multiple categories (genres of music) and spot groups (ads, daily news, …), create rotations and schedules, and automatically generate playlists based on these configured settings on a weekly basis. Licenses for this type of software are apparently rather high and since the radio station is owned by an acquaintance of mine, this felt like a fun project to take on. Recently, I’ve been asked to develop an application that can automatically create randomized playlists for a local radio station. I’m hoping this is a good place to ask this, if not, feel free to correct me. ![]()
